My iw2.18.15 Journal Pages

Howdy All!
I am here today with my Inspiration Wednesday Week 3. If you want to see how my pages were created, you need to sign up for Donna Downey's class. It's just $35 for 25 lessons!

Here is the final result. It is starting to grow on me. I was super sad when I stamped my large butterfly image and it didn't turn out very clean.  I had to let it sit for a couple of days before I could figure out what I was going to do with it.

After going through my gazillion stamps I decided to stamp the Off The Grid stamp to fill in the missing butterfly parts. It's okay, I guess. Both stamps are Stampin' Up!, as well as the little butterfly in the top left-hand corner. The sentiment stamp is from Unity Stamps and says Collect Moments.
Here are some close-ups. I just love all the texture!
Some of the words that I highlighted from the book texts.
I had a hard time finding words or phrases to highlight, but I am please with the technique results.
This word got covered up with the molding paste, it says 'enjoyable.'
I think this is my favorite part. I love how the strings really grabbed the teal wash and I like the use of the washi tape.
Welp, that's all for now! Thanks a bunch for stoppin' by. I hope to see you here again soon!

Hugs,
Sandy

My iw2.04.15 Journal Pages

Howdy All!
I am here today with my Inspiration Wednesday Week 3. If you want to see how my pages were created, you need to sign up for Donna Downey's class. It's just $35 for 25 lessons!

Here is my finished piece. I am still not 100% in love with it, but the process was intriguing and fun.

It took me over a week to finish the last part of it. I just kept looking at what I had and I was not liking it.

I did not have some of the supplies that Donna used in her piece so I had to use substitutes. I would love to purchase all of the wonderful products that she has, but it is good to be challenged to use what I already have.

I was thinking about what quote I wanted to add to my pages and these two fit perfectly.

As other students were posting their beautiful artwork on fb I was feeling inadequate as an artist. Silly, I know. So I got up this morning knowing that I did not have to go to work and determined to finish it!

I watched the lesson again (for about the 10th time) and I just did it! I am all smiles now for sure. I am looking forward to seeing what the next iw 2015 lesson will bring!

Thanks a bunch for stoppin' by. I hope to see you again real soon!

Hugs,
Sandy

My iw1.21.15 Journal Page

Howdy All!
So, I finally finished my 2nd Inspiration Wednesday journal pages. Yay! This one took me a few days to complete because I needed some dry time between layers.
To start things off, I made my own stamped tissue paper. Super fun and easy and look how great it turned out.

Here is what I had after 2 days and a few different layers. When I added the 2,3 and 7 number stickers I realized that is my birthday (March 27) so I added the 6 & 5 for my birth year.

I added a definition of Birthday, and ripped up a copy of a photo from when I was 1 year old. See if you can find my face. I love that I have writing on some of the photo pieces from my mom too. Added some extra heavy gesso to add interest and texture.

Some more glazing to 'dirty things up' and my "brown hole' tag with the date of the lesson. I wasn't sure if I wanted to date the actual date that I finished my pages or the date of the lesson, but for reference purposes I went with the lesson date.

The final touch is some ink splatters.

Here is a close up of the finished pages. I love everything about it!

I would love to hear what you think. If you are interested in learning about art journaling, check out what Donna Downey has to offer!

Thanks a bunch for stoppin' by! See you again soon!

Hugs,
Sandy

My iw1.7.15 Journal Page

Howdy All!
Well, it has been just about a year since I posted anything to my Blog! Pretty bad, I know. I have been busy with work, kids, grand babies and life, but am also squeezing in time for my creativity. Four weeks ago I took a leap and signed up for an online Mixed Media Journal class by Donna Downey. She is amazing and I really like her art style. Here are pics of my first ever art journal page.

My favorite part of this page is all the texture! I have a feeling that is going to be something that I am going LOVE about art journaling and mixed media. I enjoyed working with the Light Molding Paste and am sure I will be using it again. This course is every-other Wednesday and will last for the whole year. I am very EXCITED to see where this will take me. Thanks a bunch for stopping by. I hope you will stop back to see what else I am doing. See you soon!

Hugs,
Sandy
